Time to enlighten your own potential to bloom – this activity helps you to examine your qualities and plan the first steps to fulfill your wishes:
Activity: „My potential and resources“
Take 15-20 minutes and retreat to a quiet place where you can detach yourself from your everyday life for a short time. Breathe deeply a few times, concentrate on your breath and let all worrying and doubting thoughts go on until you feel relaxed.
1.) My potential
Remember a carefree and fulfilling time in your life and think about your highlights:
What was fun for me?
What was particularly easy for me?
How did I spend my time?
What was I praised for?
Reflect on your experiences from that time. Maybe you can think of details, or something very special that you enjoyed doing.
2.) My Wishes
Now think about the qualities behind it and the form in which they are already integrated in your life or what you want in your life again:
What are the qualities?
What skills am I using today?
What do I want to integrate into my life again?
What resources can I revive today?
Let these thoughts take effect and write down everything you can think of.
3.) First steps to activate your potential
Now think about how you can use your qualities and which wishes you would like to integrate into your life. Plan your first steps:
What do I want more in my life?
What resources do I need to activate the qualities?
What steps do I take?
Specify your steps: when do I start how?
Set milestones and create a plan to implement them step by step. Start with the implementation of simple measures that you can further increase.
I would be happy to support you personally with your individual questions and challenges.
Competition, time pressure and pressure to succeed cause many people to neglect and exhaust themselves. Personal well-being is the basis for long-term success as a leader. Max M. reached his limits. His area of responsibility has doubled in recent years – at the same time, he has not achieved the high sales targets of the last quarter. He is dissatisfied himself, his team members are unmotivated and show poor performance. At home, the situation with the family is very tense. M is no longer able to switch off, all previous recipes for success have failed and its driving force is at its lowest point. How does M find his strength again?
Leaders carry double responsibility – for themselves and for their team members. To become successful it is essential to start with yourself. People who manage to lead and to develop themselves consciously, are successful in leading others. Your own inner stability is a prerequisite for the authenticity in leading others. Overloading without recovery phases gradually leads to fatigue and exhaustion. This happens over a long period of time and is often accompanied by other difficult circumstances outside. The first step to solve such a difficult situation is to recognise counter-productive behaviours, limits and patterns.
The key is self-awareness and the knowledge of your own qualities and resources, including your strength, weaknesses and needs. At the same time it is imperative to reflect your experiences from daily work life and to integrate possible learning areas.
Regular self-reflexion enables you to learn consciously from your experiences and to continue to develop yourself. Especially in difficult times it is helpful to get external support and feedback. One possible starting point is the personality profile, Golden Personality Profiler (GPP) which shows specific behaviours and patterns and opens areas of development and strengths.
The regular work on and with yourself is often underestimated. Leaders who are aware of their role model function and actively manage themselves foster and inspire their team members. In order to lead yourself through turbulent times in work life, it is prerequisite to find and keep your inner strength and stability. Take time for yourself to reflect on your experiences and emotions from everyday work and to process ballast. As such you master unplanned turbulence in everyday work.
In today’s digital age projects, team and client meetings take place in the virtual environment. Despite the importance of technologies, the focus remains on humans, i.e. the people behind the computers. Thus managers and team leaders have to rely on their social and emotional competencies to strengthen relatonships, engagement and motivation of thier teams in the virtual world. People tend to react differently to information and take individual decisions about their actions. Thus it applies: The better the self-consciousness, the higher the awareness in interpersonal skills.
Personality is shown in individual behaviours, patterns and preferences, such as how we speak, react and take decisions. Self-awareness and the knowledge of your own personality is a core competency for leaders and managers. A personality profile brings a clear view and insight: The Golden Personality Profiler (GPP) is based on developmental approach and shows a person’s uniqueness. The GPP reports on your individual communication patterns, leadership style, your contribution in a team and in the organisation, as well as your learning style and motivational drivers. It also shows your response to stress, which is helpful in times of crisis. You recognise how you use your qualities and get to know yourself and your effect on others better. In many cases you discover, why team members have a different stand point or view on problems and why the communication is difficult. In this way, causes of problem situations in the team can be clarified and suitable solutions found. At the same time you recognise your expectations, which you automatically put on yourself and others as well as your needs.
The Golden Personality Profiler is a very time effective online tool. You receive the access information with your personal login data via email. Then you may answer the questions and GPP items at your own space and convenience. The report includes 20 pages, which we will discuss and verify during our personal feedback session, either online or face-to-face. In our meeting, we discuss your report, options for further development and any questions on current or future challenges.
Self-awareness strengthens your management and leadership competencies. With the knowledge of your strengths and learning areas you will sucessfully manage your growth and position yourself in this digital age.
